Meet Our Residents
Current FVC residents share their thoughts on what it means to live at FVC.
Moving to FVC in 1991 was the best thing for us for the rest of our lives.
The Life Care Contract assures us of whatever care we need. We have enjoyed all the activities and made lots of friends with the residents and consider them our “extended family”. We can be on committees if we wish and have the freedom to do whatever we want to – even enjoy our private woods where we can see the local wildlife. Come join us!
-Bill & Irene SmithFrom being “not ready” to move to a retirement community, I’ve become extremely glad that I live at F.V.C. I’ve found terrific new friends, and have become involved in activities that I thoroughly enjoy. Besides, I have dinner with friends every day instead of eating alone. This is a good life!
-Jean BellI’m very new to the Village and I can already say 'I should have done this much sooner.'
It is a warm & comforting atmosphere the minute you enter. That along with the beautiful apartment convinced me that I was in the right place.
The neighbors – the staff – the activities – the “pampering” chef …
FVC has all you could ever want.
-Pat KoenigI moved to FVC in late July, 2007. Unfortunately, my husband passed away before our scheduled move. The wonderful staff and residents at FVC made this great loss much easier for me with their love and support. This is a wonderful community who cares about one another.
There are many activities at FVC in which you may participate, and programs to attend.
I am very happy to be here. I have made many new friends and enjoy being an active member of their special community. I also feel very safe and secure here, and enjoy my lovely apartment.
This move has been a very good decision.
-Judy HeadleyI have been a resident at F.V.C. for 7 ½ years, and it is a delightful place.
You can be as busy as you desire. A nice store and U.S. Bank make it very convenient. Busses for grocery shopping and pleasure trips. Stop in for lunch!
-Alice ModdersFriendship Village of Columbus means “home to me”. I have many fond memories since my husband and I came to live here in 1994. I have been a widow for over 3 years and very much enjoy seeing friends each day – in our dining room, as we attend programs, attend committee meetings, are playing games together, visiting as we walk down the hall or perhaps working together in the flower gardens. FVC is where I return to “my home” not “my room”.
-Grace LeamerLiving at FVC has been even better than I had envisioned! I have made wonderful friends here, the kinds of friends who get together to do things and go places. They are also the kinds of friends who pick up a meal for you when you are ill or take you to the airport to catch a plane or ask if you need anything at the grocery store when they are going.
It’s also a place where I can feel helpful to others by volunteering on one of the many committees who do all kinds of useful things like running the travel program or the bridge program or the special events or the parties of so many other things that we all enjoy. Through participating with other residents in the work of committees, we draw closer to each other and create a really close-knit community. It is an inter-dependent community of the very best sort.
Having all the friends we make here at the Village certainly matters when we are ill and spend some time in the Health Center. About a year after I came to FVC, I demolished my car in a terrible accident and was severely injured.
In the five weeks I spent in the Health Center, I had wonderful care and also the most wonderful visits from my FVC friends, friends who stopped in daily to chat and cheer me up , bring my mail, or bring flowers from their gardens.
That is possible when the Health Center is only down a hallway from the rest of the Village.
