Groundbreaking Ceremony

Friendship Village of Columbus recently held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebration the success of their first-ever special fundraising project that will be used to renovate the entrance to their facility. The campaign exceeded its goal and will enable the facility to install new sliding automatic doors, increase the reception waiting space and create new interior décor, including a new front desk with addition of lower counter height for scooter and wheel chair access. A long-time wish of the facility, the project is now reality sooner than expected due to the generosity of those supporting the fundraising campaign. Pictured at the ceremony are, from left to right: Michael Heit, Project Manager, Corna Kokosing Construction Company; Dan Shields, FVC Executive Director; Andy Halatek, FVC Resident and Chair of the Philanthropy Advisory Committee; and, Frank Shepherd, FVC Board Member of Williams-Shepherd Architects ( and also providing planning and designs services pro bono). Congratulations to all involved on this great show of the philanthropic spirit of our mission-driven members!
